OLX users in Nigeria, others hit 300 million

OLX in Nigeria and in another 44 countries of operation have recorded more than 300 million users who visit the company’s website every month.

Daan Sanders, CEO OLX, Middle East and Africa, who revealed this at the launch of the company’s new product, Do-it-for-me initiative, in Lagos recently said that the company which started ten years ago in Argentina has continued to tremendously receive requests from over 300 million unique users every month from its websites.

He said, “We have a global perspective in which we operate in 45 markets of the world and we are glad to let you know that today we have 300 million unique users every month who either use our website to buy or sell something. We believe this is a good thing for us as  well as our users. We are also looking at expanding our markets.”

While speaking at the launch, Lola Lasha, country Manager, Nigeria, who explained that the new product, Do-it-for-me which include middlemen will help users who either want to buy or sell something all through the process until the deal is successful, saying that the product will be very useful for those who wants to use OLX but are reluctant to do so.

Sha said, “W are introducing a new application, which is the Do-it-for-me initiative, where our verified OLX champs will help you throughout the process of buying or selling through our websites. One thing we are obsessed with at OLX is to sincerely help our users to be successful, both the buyers and sellers, that’s why we want o help our users throughout the process.

“We will start with 100 OLX verified champs, who will help you, if you want to sell something, post pictures, meet buyers on your behalf, take calls for you, screen out unserious buyers and also connect you with serious buyers. We are very pleased to share this.” She said.

She said, “There’s the group that really wants to use OLX but they need the extra push to do that, this new product will give them this push. Also, we noticed there are little things we know that can help our users to be successful, so we put up the idea of champs, who will help you get the very best deal.

She also explained that OLX will through the champs check anything to be sold and bought  to ascertain that users do not sell or buy stolen properties through their site, and also use database that will provide information to prevent the actual incidence of selling and buying stolen goods.

She said, “trust and safety is our priority, we tend to be in Nigeria for multiple years. We are a global board and we want to protect it, so to prevent the actual incidence of selling or buying stolen goods through oue website, the champs will verify that you are the owner of what you want to sell and also we have a database that helps us with information.
